At Active EMS, we are pleased to be giving back to the community and supporting the next generation with our recent apprenticeship programme in partnership with Bury College. By offering hands-on experience we’re allowing students to gain valuable skills that will benefit both them and the industry as a whole.
Bury College Apprenticeships
Bury College approached us to accommodate a handful of students in an apprenticeship programme, and we gladly accepted as it aligns with our core belief in creating fair opportunities.
We’re currently working with three students, Ella, Andrew and Tyler, who are undertaking work experience as part of their studies. Andrew has already completed his work experience hours, Ella has only 20 more to go, and Tyler will be completing 215 hours of experience. Mentored by our mechanical engineering team, the students contribute to tasks such as interpreting technical plans, producing CAD models and supporting design evaluations.
This practical involvement helps them not only develop technical skills, but also gain the confidence and workplace experience they’ll need after completing their studies.
In addition to technical skills, we also focus on developing key employability skills, such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving. By working alongside experienced engineers, students learn to collaborate with others, adapt to different roles, and gain valuable insights into the diverse skill sets required in the engineering field.
Regular feedback from our team helps students improve and build confidence as they progress through their work experience.
Shaping Future Careers
At Active EMS, we understand that mentorship plays an important role in a student’s development, and we are proud to provide guidance and support to students like Andrew, Ella and Tyler.
Our partnership with Bury College is just one example of how we invest in young talent and provide them with the skills and experience they need. We encourage other businesses to consider similar opportunities with local colleges, giving back to the community and enabling the growth of the next generation of skilled professionals.
