Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Active EMS Managing Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for leading all production and engineering activities within Active EMS. You will be responsible for:

  • Acting as a role model in applying the Active EMS Founding Principles of Quality, Value, Flexibility and Ethical Conscience
  • Ensuring as a highest priority, a healthy and safe working environment for all employees
  • Managing the end to end process of all factory operations
  • Leading, developing and motivating colleagues in all aspects of factory activities including facilities management, procurement, assembly, quality and dispatch by using effective communications, coaching and regular feedback in order to maximise individual and team performance
  • Managing customer relationships as required in a positive and solutions-orientated manner to achieve customer satisfaction and to secure repeat business
  • Planning production activities to maximise capacity utilisation and to meet customer delivery expectations, including proactively resolving any constraints to achieving agreed deadlines
  • Identifying people resource requirements in order to recruit, develop, coach and manage colleagues against agreed performance measures, in line with company efficiency objectives and growth plans
  • Applying continuous improvement techniques to ensure high levels of performance and productivity
  • Encouraging innovation and cost productivity at every opportunity through the full engagement of all employees to achieve and maintain a lean manufacturing operation
  • Contribute to effective forecasting, budgeting and financial performance management, ensuring the profitable and cash flow positive operation of the business
  • Responsible for effective and transparent reporting on operational performance at monthly board meetings
  • Collaborate with other manufacturing organisations to establish and share best practice, identify process improvements and enable Active EMS to become a best in class manufacturer

Experience & Skills

You must have:

  • A minimum 5 years Process or Product Engineering experience with a demonstrated history of working in the assembly, electrical and electronic manufacturing industry
  • Skilled in Electronic Production Methods, Design for Manufacture (DFM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • A proven ability to problem-solve, operate proactively, lead and develop teams
  • A proven track record in implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
  • Strong communications skills
  • Sound working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental best practice
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • A high level of computer literacy
